Ransom Riggs wrote his novel to various antique photographs that he had collected. Using one of the sets of photos on the Course Resource Page, write a synopsis for a theme park world you create based on the photos in one set. You don't have to use all the photos in the set. Your account does not have to include a narrative or storyline, but should discuss some of the characters, the settings, and interactions between characters and between characters and elements of the setting. What are the most profound attractions of your world? What roles do some of the characters play and what role do the visitors to the world play? Your characters should be designed so as to be able to play archetypal roles in any narrative unfolding in your world.

Mod is a traveling theme park on the wheels of an old 70’s beetle. This park is vintage to the core, with a sleek and modern twist to its design. The park opens up when the vehicle parks. Once no longer in motion, the top opens up and from it, the makings of a park I can guarantee you’ve never experienced before. Contemporary designs embody that of the rides that can be enjoyed by visitors, while dress code is strictly enforced in the fashions of the 1960’s to keep true to the vintage core of our park. It’s as if stepping back in time but keeping one foot firmly in the future. Two concepts of time perfectly blended into a space to be enjoyed by all.

Since the park is all balanced on a piece that is not grounded, there are extra safety precautions that are made for the safety and concern of our visitors and staff. To keep the illusion of such a brilliant hybrid however, we ask that the staff, specifically maintenance, to be equipped with our high tech tools that can fix almost anything with just the press of a button. A whole ride could break down and within 10 seconds, it could be back up and running thanks to these bad boys. Our maintenance crew is especially important to us. They are visionaries who take creative problem solving to a whole new level.

Alongside our maintenance crew, we house a wide variety of peculiar park-goers that help add pleasure and excitement to our park experience. You might see the ladies dressed in their green sequined leotards and pink feathers walking around the park, doing acrobatic tricks and death defying stunts. Others could be in jump suits, going from ride to ride ready to analyze the enjoyment from the visitors. We track the laughter an amount of smiles on each ride from our high tech scanners and plug that information into new rides we might come up with. Additionally, you might see some men here and there on our maintenance crew, or tagging alongside our lady performers, but our park is femininely dominated.

For such a theme for a park as different as ours, we needed the fashion eye and taste of a lady from that era. With that being said, the head of our whole operation is this wonderful lady named Alice who’s been the key factor of the success of our park. Without her knowledge and experience of having lived in the era that we so desperately try to preserve, the whole hybrid would be impersonal and fake.
